2018 Bassmaster Opens Series Tournament on Barnett Reservoir March 1-3
The 2018 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Open Series includes nine tournaments on prime bass fishing waters across the nation.
B.A.S.S. CEO Bruce Akin announced a new Opens format with a Eastern and Central Division instead of three divisions as in the past. Anglers will prove their fishing skills on the Ross Barnett Reservoir on March 1-3, 2018 as they earn their way to the Bassmaster Classic and Elite Series. This new format is designed to select the most skilled, experienced and versatile Opens bass fisherman for the next step in their careers.
The Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens Championship is tentatively scheduled for October 18-20, 2018 with the location being announced at a later date. The field will include the four winners of the Opens tournaments as well as the Top 10 in points standing, not including the winners, from each division for a total of 28. Additionally, the four winning co-anglers from each division tournament and the Top 10 in points standings, not including winners, will compete alongside the pros for a share of their own prize fund.
The Ross Barnett Reservoir has hosted 18 B.A.S.S. events including the most recent B.A.S.S. winner of the 2017 Bassmaster Elite Series, Dustin Connell during the April 27-30 tournament. The Ross Barnett Reservoir was ranked #9 in 2016 on the Bassmaster 100 Best Bass Lakes Rank.
