5 Things To Do This Summer in Ridgeland, Mississippi
When the temperatures climb and the days get long, Ridgeland comes alive. Whether you're into outdoor concerts, Fourth of July festivities, hands-on crafts for the kids, or a one-of-a-kind festival you won't find anywhere else, there's no shortage of summer events in Ridgeland to fill your calendar. Here's your go-to guide for the season.
Summer Porch Party Series at the Mississippi Crafts Center
This summer, the Bill Waller Mississippi Crafts Center is launching the Summer Porch Party Series — a three-part evening event lineup set against the backdrop of one of Ridgeland's most beloved cultural destinations. Each event has its own vibe, but all three share the same spirit: good company, great craft, and a Mississippi summer evening well spent.
May 30 — Kick-Off Party (6-9 PM) The series opens with a bang on the back patio of the Guild. Members of the Forge Council will be working the metal and throwing sparks, Bill Ellison will be performing live, and Pig and Pint will be serving up BBQ. Guests can grab cold beer, wine, or a special Cathead lemonade cocktail, and a few featured speakers will share updates on the synchronous fireflies that have long made this property special. Tickets are $20.
July 9 — Movie Night (Festivities at 6:30 PM, Movie ~8 PM) Pack the family up for a free outdoor movie night on the grounds. A food truck will be on site with a cash bar, and live music by a local artisan will set the mood in one of the craft studios before the film rolls. Bring your camp chairs and blankets — this one's all about a relaxed summer evening under the stars. (Date tentative pending screen confirmation.)
August — J. Lohr Wine Tasting (Date TBD) The series wraps up with an intimate evening of wine, glass-blowing, and charcuterie. Jay Hunter and Chris Berry will be pouring reds and whites from J. Lohr Vineyard, Sarah Fey Brown will add bubbles and expertly paired charcuterie boards to the mix, and Nic Neese will be blowing glass live. Tickets are $50 and seating is limited to 45 guests — this one will go fast.
Mississippi Pickle Fest — June 13-14
Yes, really — and yes, it's as fun as it sounds. The 2026 Mississippi Pickle Fest takes over the Mississippi Ag Museum on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14. A family-friendly celebration for pickle lovers of all ages, this is exactly the kind of quirky, only-in-Mississippi event that makes summer in Ridgeland so memorable. Mark your calendars.
The Big Run 5K — June 3
Fleet Feet is celebrating 50 years in a big way, and Ridgeland gets to be part of it. The Big Run 5K falls on Global Running Day, June 3, making it the perfect way to kick off the month on foot. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun community event, it's a great excuse to lace up and get outside.
Creative Craft Camp — June Session
Looking for something for the kids that's more than just screen time? The Creative Craft Camp at the Bill Waller Mississippi Crafts Center delivers a full five-day immersive experience packed with pottery, weaving, woodcarving, mixed media, and more — all led by skilled members of the Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi. It's a summer highlight for families and a genuinely unique opportunity for young makers.
Celebrate America Balloon Glow — June 26
Kick off Fourth of July weekend early. On June 26 at 5:00 p.m., Ridgeland Recreation and Parks teams up with partners to bring the Celebrate America Balloon Glow to Northpark — and this year, the event is co-branded with America 250, the national commemoration of the country's semiquincentennial. Hot air balloons, food, live music, fireworks, and a festive crowd make this one of the most visually spectacular events of the entire summer. Arrive early, stake your spot, and watch the sky light up.
