Reservoir Overlook
Reservoir Overlook offers sweeping views of Mississippi’s 33,000 acre Barnett Reservoir, the state’s largest source of drinking water and a haven for wildlife, including alligators and a variety of water birds. A favorite local spot for picnics, hammocking, and watching the sunset, the overlook provides a peaceful place to relax and take in the beauty of the Rez. It also serves as the northern terminus of the Chisha Foka Multi-Use Trail, a scenic 10 mile paved trail that winds through historic Choctaw homelands. Named after the Choctaw town that once stood where Jackson is today, “Chisha Foka” translates to “among the post oaks.” Today, visitors can experience the area’s natural beauty through peaceful rides, walks, and opportunities to spot native trees, wildflowers, and wildlife along this protected greenspace in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
